Florida's own Mickey Jacob, FAIA, was highlighed how architects are making a difference in Oklahoma City in last Friday's AIA Architect by making the point that last October, "more than 20 trained evaluators" prepared to be of service after a disaster by taking the CalEMA Safety Assessment Program (SAP) Training as offered by the AIA Disaster Assistance Committee.
At the same time last Friday, 24 of our Florida/Caribbean members in Puerto Rico were preparing themselves to be of service as well.
Puerto Rico now becomes the fourth largest largest component in our region when it comes to SAP Trained Evaluators.
Rather than a stuffy conference room these architects were able to learn in a more enjoyable setting, the Tea Café, thanks to AIA Puerto Rico President Emmanuel Ramirez, AIA and AIA Puerto Rico Director, Sarah Tringo, AIA.
"What a great way to learn...relaxed, being able to get some tea and sit in comfortable chairs," said Michael Lingerfelt, FAIA, LEED AP.
