VICTOR DIAZ PAUNETTO, AIA

President

Victor is the founding principal of Diaz Paunetto Arquitectos, a leading and award-winning architectural firm in the island, and past president at the Foundation for Architecture of Puerto Rico.

 

Strongly rooted in context and sustainability, his work has been widely published and received numerous awards at state, regional and international level during his career from organizations such as the American Institute of Architects Puerto Rico and Florida Chapters, and the PR College of Architects and Landscape Architects, among others. He is a University of Southern California graduate and design professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan, with professional licenses to practice architecture in Puerto Rico, Florida and New York.

EUGENIO RAMÍREZ, AIA

Vice President

Eugenio is the vice president and president elect of our chapter, the AIA Puerto Rico chapter. He has also served as member of the Governing Board of the CAAPPR (2009-2011) as Director of the Technical Professional Committee.

 

He founded ERERAS arquitectos in 2008 and has since received various architecture and design awards locally and internationally. Additionally Eugenio is a full time professor of architecture at the EIDA Universidad del Turabo. He obtained his BA from The School of Architecture of the UPR in 1997 and his Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech in 2000.

HÉCTOR RALAT-SOTOMAYOR, AIA

Treasure

Héctor is a registered architect, with over 20 years of experience in development, project management, planning, and design. He has held leadership positions in corporate and governmental organizations.

 

As Director at the Puerto Rico Land Administration, he lead a team of professionals in the disciplines of architecture, engineering, and property appraisal, to promote private and public projects developments such as hotels, medical facilities, affordable housing, industrial facilities, among others. 

 

Héctor is currently a Senior Designer at Marvel Architects, and a board member at the American Institute of Architects, Puerto Rico Chapter.

RAPHAEL OSUNA, ASSOC. AIA

Secretary

Raphael Osuna Segarra is the Associate Program Director of Habitat for Humanity in Puerto Rico. He earned his undergraduate studies from the UPR School of Architecture and received his MArch, with a minor in Landscape Architecture, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Design.  In the past years Raphael worked as Project Manager and Designer at the Design & Construction Office of the Municipality of Bayamón leading the Urban Center Revitalization Program initiatives.

He also has been an Adjunct Professor of the undergraduate program at the UPR School of Architecture since 2012, teaching the second and third year design studio sequence.  Raphael has always been related to the arts and currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Museo de Arte de Bayamón.

 

JORGE F. RAMIREZ BUXEDA, AIA 

Director / 3 years

Jorge F. Ramírez Buxeda AIA, LEED AP is a Puerto Rico licensed architect. In 1993 he completed a BA at Harvard University and in 1996 a MArch from the University of Virginia. In January 2000 he founded the architecture, planning and landscape services firm BCJR, Inc. The firm transitioned in 2004 to become Ramírez Buxeda Arquitectos, PSC of which he is currently the principal architect. Since 2010 he is a member and vice-president of the Board of Trustees of the Fundación por la Arquitectura and since 2015 a member of the Board of Trustees of the Carlos Beltrán Baseball Academy, located in the Municipality of Florida, Puerto Rico.

In academia he served as design instructor at the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico’s School of Architecture from 1997 to 1998 and was a member of the design faculty at the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Architecture from 2005 to 2016.

Director / 2 Years

Miraida serves as 2 Years Director of the AIA Puerto Rico chapter.

MELISSA VITTERI SIEG, AIA MBA

Director / 1 year

Melissa is a licensed architect committed to giving back to our profession. She has supported the AIA as co-chair, writer, associate director and board director, actively participating for the chapters of Hampton Roads, Columbus, and Ohio and the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health Knowledge Community. 

 

 

She has held multiple projects in the Caribbean, U.S. states and South America. Melissa is now principal at Vitteri Architects + Consultants where her main focus is project management and healthcare design. She has a Bachelor in Fine Arts and a Master in Architecture degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and an MBA from the Ohio State University.

MARIA ELENA JOGLAR, ASSOC. AIA

Associate Director 

Maria Elena is an architect in training graduated in 2014 from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Architecture. She had the opportunity of traveling and studying in cities like London, Madrid and Florence. Since then she has been working in Puerto Rico as an architectural designer collaborating in residential, entertainment and hospitality design-build projects.

 

In the past year, Maria Elena was part of a Non-profit organization called ReImagina PR, created by The Rockefeller Foundation, Ford Foundation and Open Society Foundations, dedicated to enhancing the efforts to drive a long-term recovery on the island after Hurricane Maria. She is currently part of a small architecture firm working on various residential projects.

LUIS GALARZA, AIA

Past President

Luis is the past President of our chapter, and has been involved with the AIA since 2014. Some of his main interests are music, films, & drama, among other artistic expressions. For fifteen years, Luis has been an integral part of Integra Design Group, and since 2008, he has been the Architecture Department Director. At Integra he is responsible for the architectural design & aesthetics coherence, code compliance review, and construction documents oversight for different project types, including institutional buildings, residential developments, commercial interiors, and urban planning. Luis earned both his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design and Master of Architecture from the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico.
